Welcome to Technology Week in Toronto! I’m very pleased to lend my support to this exciting event. TechWeek brings together the top talent and businesses in the Information and Communication Technology (“ICT”) sector and allows us to focus our attention for one week on an industry that continues to enrich Toronto’s diverse economy. In addition to providing tremendous networking opportunities to connect with colleagues throughout the GTA, TechWeek is a catalyst for reaching out internationally.
With the largest ICT sector in Canada and the third largest in North America, Toronto is home to most of the major technology companies. This city also benefits from a legion of smaller, independent firms that are working hard to be innovation leaders. In Toronto, the very best financial services companies, law firms, colleges, universities and consultants are available to help launch new start-ups and ensure the continued growth and success of maturing companies.
I know the organizers have worked hard to provide a thought-provoking and thoroughly engaging week of exciting activities and events. I hope you will join with me and with many of your colleagues as we support and celebrate all that TechWeek has to offer in 2008!
